This is the genesis and foundation of the Meatco business, Owner/ Local Run Farms is where a hearty relationship between Meatco and the Producers is cultivated; it is where the relationship between the raw material (High Quality Cattle) and the end-product (Premium Steak) is produced. Owner/ Local Run Farms ensure that our cattle are raised and fed in a free-range way which ascribes and comply with the five freedoms, which define the ideal status for acceptable animal welfare. These being the freedoms from hunger and thirst; freedom from discomfort; freedom from pain, injury or disease; freedom to express normal behaviour; and freedom from fear and distress. On their farms Meatco Producers adhere to stringent regulations set by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) because cattle roam freely eat grass as part of their diets and are never given routine antibiotics or growth hormones. It suffices to say that adding value to Namibian beef starts in the veld, and this the backbone on which the Meatco business is premise through rearing cattle free-range using natural methods.
