Meatco has world-class Infrastructure, that has verifiable certification for its food safety standards and constantly undergoes rigorous audits that benchmark our infrastructures or abattoirs against those of Europe. Our world-class processing facility in the capital Windhoek, is EU, BRC, USA, China, FSSC 22000 and Halaal certified, and every point in our production chain is regulated subject to various independent audits. The aim is to maximise the yield of raw material received and to minimise waste. The Northern Communal Area (NCA) Abattoirs operate under the Commodity Based Trade (CBT) Protocol or the value chain approach, focuses on the certifiable process by which products are produced (rather than their geographical origin) in assessing the risk of diseases, this offered the potential for the export abattoirs in the NCA to export meat products that possess an insignificant risk for the transmission of diseases thus it enables marketing opportunities for products from the NCA. Additionally, our Meatco Okapuka Tannery is the first in Africa to be audited and ESG Certified by the Sustainable Leather Foundation (SLF).
